Why You Should Be Planning Your Blog And Where To Start? 

I know you love your blog and want to grow it. You love publishing content. 

It is an important part of your life. 

And that’s why you will do everything to keep it running. 

But don’t worry, you don’t have to do a lot. Writing a blog plan can be done in minutes. 

Let’s first see why you should be decluttering your blog.

Planning your blog will help you with these things. 

• Grow your blog. 
• Achieve your blog goals.
• Save time for yourself. 
• Prioritize other things too. 

Again, I know your blog is important to you but you want to do other things too. 

Agree?

Okay, great! So you have to do it. But how to begin organizing your blog? 

The first step is – planning your blog content. 

Why? 

Try to visualize the big picture of your blogging journey. What is the most important thing that helped you get where you are now? 

Content right? 

You published blog posts. But I get it, you can’t keep up with the vicious cycle of always creating & publishing. It’s tiring. 

You love writing but the other things are also important. 

Hence, you will write only when it is required.

So we will be planning blog content first. 

But do you know what? You can follow the same process to plan for other parts of blogging. 

Such as, 

• Income planning. 
• Traffic planning
• Social media
• SEO and more. 

So, let’s begin. 

How To Organize Blog Posts? – The Step By Step Process 

Here’s the step-by-step process to follow for blog post planning. 

I used to struggle a lot. Then I researched and collected the best ways to organize my blog. 

I have found that working on a blog planner helps in keeping things together. 

You can also get my blog planner here. I have dedicated separate sections for everything. 

Moving on.

Everything starts with setting goals. 

Yearly Goals

The key is to set realistic goals. 

Realistic and doable goals will force you to work on them. 

And write it in form – I will…………

For example, I will publish 50 blog posts every year. 

Setting a yearly goal will give you one main goal to focus on. 

Then, 

Monthly Goals

The next part is to set monthly goals to complete that yearly goal. 

For our example, if I am to write 50 blog posts every year then I will have to write 50 ÷ 12 = 4 blog posts per month. 

So my monthly goal becomes – I will publish 4 blog posts every month. 

I have also included sheets in my blog planner where you can also plan blog post ideas for a year and month too. 

Now you have 4 posts to publish in 4 weeks. 

So plan your weekly schedule. 

Plan Your Weekly Schedule

After you have decided on the 4 blog posts you will publish in a month it’s time to plan a weekly schedule for them. 

In my example, I will publish 1 blog post per week. 

This becomes easier than the yearly task, right? 

So a week has 6 days other than weekends. 

Weekends are for fun. Right?

Writing a blog post is a big task. It includes

• Content research
• Keyword research
• Outline planning
• Writing
• Publishing
• Promotion 

There can be more. But these are the most common.

So I can easily give 1 hour for each task daily. 

You can also do it this way. Keep an hour for your blog post planning task and you can do other things too.

Stick To Your Plan

The key to a successful plan is sticking to it. 

I created many plans but the one that got me results is the one that I kept following. 

Consistency is crucial. 

Therefore you must stick to your plan for a certain amount of time. 

In our case, it is one year. 

So follow the plan for one year and see the magic. 

Or kill the consistency and see your stats falling. 

Why am I so sure? 

Here’s why! 

When 2021 started, I planned everything the same way. 

50 per year, 4 per month, and 1 per week. 

And I was good enough to follow them for 8 months. 

In that time, my blog DA went from 8 to 20. 

Last month, I took a break from blogging because I wanted to focus on my exams. 

And I didn’t publish anything. 

My DA went down to 16. 

This is why I say, follow your schedule consistently. 

So this is how to organize blog content. 

How To Organize Blog Post Ideas? 

I used to struggle to come up with blog post ideas and that’s why I hated publishing. 

Why? Because I was brainstorming while I sat down to write an article. 

Do you see? No planning at all. 

But I observed that I used to get ideas but I forgot them. 

Because I never recorded them. 

That’s when I came up with this idea. 

Collect Blog Post Ideas In One Place

To collect all ideas in one place. 

I collect all of the blog post ideas in the planner I use after doing the research. 

Such as 

• Holiday content like the Black Friday sale.
• Trending topics etc. 
• Good Keywords – Read this guide to learn how to find good keywords. 

Then you can decide which blog posts you want to publish. If you want help in generating blog post ideas then this might help.

Okay, let’s talk about other parts of blog organizing. 

Organizing Blog Income, Traffic, Social Media, Etc

Like I said before, this works the same way as the above process. 

• Set one realistic yearly goal. 
• Break it into monthly goals.
• Further, break them into weekly goals. 
• Create an action plan. 
• Divide the work into smaller tasks. 
• Give one day for a task.
• Set time for that particular task. 
• Stick to your schedule. 

It is that easy. 

Okay, okay! I know that following a schedule can be difficult. 

But honestly, it isn’t once you start following it. 

Starting anything is difficult. 

But for your blog, DO IT.

The key to engaging your readers is to solve their problems. 

For that, you must know their problems. 

So, you need to identify who is your target audience. 

Then focus on solving the problem in the easiest way possible. 

Here’s why I am saying this. 

One time on Twitter, I tweeted about Bluehost and a follower asked me why to choose Bluehost. 

I created a blog post on that topic and look at the average duration. 

This is what happens when you solve your readers’ problems. 

I have also included a target audience section in the blog planner.
